The Wines

Our family has been growing grapes and making wine since the 1970's. For years we have handcrafted small amounts of award-winning wines. We are passionate about sharing these wines with our family and friends and we have had a very limited distribution. We invite you to come and experience Yokayo wines! 

Below is a brief overview of our current wines.  

Buteo Cabernet Sauvignon

Rockpile, Sonoma, 2015

SF International Wine Competition
Cabernet Sauvignon with 20% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc, 100% from steep hillside vineyards of Rockpile. Small lot fermentations, 2-day cold soak extraction for concentrated flavors, 20 months in new and second fill French Oak. It is a big, bold wine of currant, blackberry, mocha and toasted coconut with hints of violet and black cherry on the nose, and fine, balanced tannin. 

Serve with brisket, spare ribs, polenta, paella.


Rockpile, Sonoma, 2014

100% Malbec, all free run juice, cold soak extraction, 12-day initial fermentation, lactic acid fermentation in barrels, aged 20 months in new, 1 year and 2-year French oak. Aromas of blueberry, dried cherry and red currant. Flavors of blackberry, white pepper, and minerality. Mouthfeel is with firm tannins and smooth balance. 

Serve with Beef or lamb, open flame meats, sausage, Ragu.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Rockpile, Sonoma, 2014

1100 feet elevation, steep hills, 100% barrel aged in French Oak, aqueous extraction for flavor concentration, fermented to dry, racked to barrel after two weeks. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with some Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc give it a nose of Blackberry, plum, chocolate and a hint of black pepper, followed by flavors of blackberry, currant, mocha and oaky vanilla, all with a creamy soft finish. 

Pair with short ribs, venison stew, or rich reduction sauces. 


Mendocino, 2016

Fruit forward, crisp, balanced: 35% of the wine undergoing malolactic fermentation, 35% of the wine aged in new French oak. Our Chardonnay has aromas of caramel, toasted vanilla, pear, and spiced apple with flavors of ripe green apple, sweet melon, minerality, and hints of butterscotch pudding. 

Lovely by itself, it pairs well with grilled chicken and vegetables, pesto pastas, and lighter cheeses. 

Sauvignon Blanc

Mendocino, 2017

100% Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards our family has farmed for generations. Grapes grown here get a long slow ripening that brings full fruit flavors balanced with a crisp acidity; perfect for Sauvignon Blanc. It is clean, fruit-forward and balanced with bright aromas of honeysuckle, green apple, pineapple, light lemon, and grapefruit leading to a crisp blend of flavors including white peach, honeydew melon, fresh green apple, passion fruit, and muted citrus; the perfect wine for spring and summer.  

Refreshing to sip or as a great pairing with many dishes including light cheeses, white fish, chicken dishes, grilled vegetables, and salads.
